Financial Governance & Internal Control Manager

About the role

Zurich Insurance is looking for a Financial Governance & Internal Control Manager in Kuala Lumpur. The role provides an independent, objective assessment of the design and operating effectiveness of the company's Internal Key Controls, using Zurich's Internal Control methodology, and takes part in developing internal controls across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Internal Control Testing Leaders and Managers in analysing financial reporting risks for each Reporting Unit (RU) and directing the testing performed by the co-sourced testing partner, selecting processes and controls to test under a risk-based rotational approach
• Test sensitive controls with highly confidential evidence, such as indirect entity-level controls like Board and Management Committee controls, and other agreed testing for the RUs
• Review RU readiness before testing and carry out ad hoc special projects to improve risk coverage, rationalise and standardise controls
• Support the Internal Control Testing Leaders and Managers with ad hoc internal control testing tasks and projects
• Deliver control testing such as indirect Entity Level Controls as assigned, and complete deliverables as directed

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience in accounting, finance, actuarial science or an equivalent field
• Fully or partially qualified accountant or auditor (e.g. ACCA, CPA, IIA, CIA)
• Minimum 3 years of audit experience, ideally with a Big 4 or medium-large audit firm
• Strong understanding of accounting standards, internal control frameworks, risk management and audit procedures
• Preferred: prior internal control implementation or control testing experience, insurance industry experience, general ledger transactional experience, project management experience, and experience with Business Objects or similar query tools
