Suspense Reporting Manager

About the role

Manulife is looking for a Suspense Reporting Manager to join its finance operations team in Kuala Lumpur. The role manages reconciliation of suspense accounts, mitigates financial risks and strengthens controls, working with Operations and Finance to improve processes and automation. It also contributes to regional strategic initiatives across Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare regular reconciliation, matching rate and aging reports for suspense accounts, with commentaries on investigations and results
• Monitor accounts at risk of exceeding materiality thresholds or clearing standards and coordinate follow-up with account owners
• Identify adjustments, including write-offs of unclaimed property, and meet all deadlines for sign-offs and reporting
• Onboard new accounts into the suspense account management tool (Cadency)
• Review, add and edit matching rules with the Process & Modernization team to raise auto-matching rates
• Follow separation of duties and suspense account management standards, escalate risks and lead touch-point meetings when needed
• Maintain process documents, run peer-to-peer quality checks on journal entries and reports, and take part in special projects and regional priorities

Required profile

• University business degree and/or recognized accounting designation
• 5+ years of progressive financial accounting experience
• Strong stakeholder management, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Self-starter, detail-oriented, able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong oral and written communication with senior officers and other divisions

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced Excel, including formulas and pivot tables
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
• Experience with Blackline, Cadency or similar finance reconciliation tools is an advantage
• Understanding of Lawson or general finance systems is preferred
