Manager - Expert, Global Supply Chain Customs Management

About the role

BASF's Regional Service Hub in Kuala Lumpur offers a permanent, on-site position as Manager - Expert for Global Supply Chain Excellence covering APAC and North America, focused on customs management. The role designs and optimizes supply chain services for customs scope, drives automation and digitalization, and acts as an expert for customs-related topics.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimize supply chain services for customs scope, based on business demand, legal requirements, M&A, investments and strategic projects
• Conduct impact and cost analysis of new services and identify needs for optimization, process changes and automation
• Provide input for tender strategies and ensure continuous improvement for customs management
• Identify models, methods and tools for service design and structure, group and prioritize business requirements for customs management (import/export, preferential management, classification and compliance)
• Use new ICT to design or redesign supply chain services and deliver technical concepts with the DevOps team and business experts
• Drive automation and digitalization, continuous improvement and change management, and create customer-specific and cross-regional distribution concepts with the SDU, purchase-to-pay, procurement, customs and finance teams
• Integrate new businesses into the global business service structure and test new services before implementation

Required profile

• Degree in engineering, supply chain management, logistics, information systems with SAP certification, or equivalent
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in supply chain management or logistics
• In-depth knowledge of business and SAP processes in foreign trade and customs management, and of supply chain, transport and import-export management
• Expertise in creating concepts and process design, with SAP GTS customs management
• Analytical thinking, leadership with key performance indicators and good communication skills
