Global Customs Operations Executive

About the role

BASF's Global Customs Operations (Executive) supports customs-related activities handled through the Kuala Lumpur Asia Pacific Service Centre hub. The role aims to deliver service excellence from the hub, support hub customs service requests, ensure compliance with foreign trade and trade control regulations, and help improve processes so that service levels and government regulations are met.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver customs services to business and respond promptly to business unit queries and urgent issues
• Support hub operations: import/export documentation, issuance and verification, and duty rate maintenance in SAP or a customised database
• Review and validate import and export documents for data accuracy and compliance with customs laws and regulations
• Monitor regulatory changes and support process improvement, dashboard data preparation, reporting standardisation and automation of routine data collection
• Proactively resolve customs issues such as delayed shipments, missing documentation and tariff classification mismatches
• Support customs compliance assessments, health checks and audits, and maintain SOPs, work guides and work instructions
• Support digitalisation initiatives, system upgrades and process automation

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in any technical discipline, preferably Supply Chain Management
• Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience in customs and foreign trade, with familiarity with supply chain operations
• Experience with customs, trade law and practices for chemical and non-chemical products is desirable
• Flexibility with EMEA working hours
