Assistant Manager/Manager, Shariah Assurance

About the role

The role supports Zurich's commitment to an ethics‑based culture by delivering Shariah compliance assurance, risk assessment and advisory services. You will work closely with business units, the Shariah Committee and other assurance functions to ensure robust governance.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute risk‑based compliance assurance reviews, including scope definition, work programmes and sampling methodologies.
• Assess the design and operating effectiveness of compliance controls, identify gaps and provide independent challenge.
• Prepare evidence‑based assurance reports, communicate findings and recommendations, and track remediation actions to closure.
• Support the Compliance Risk Assessment process with insights on emerging risks and control weaknesses.
• Attend Shariah Committee meetings, review submissions, and monitor implementation of committee decisions.
• Identify potential Shariah non‑compliance events, conduct preliminary assessments and coordinate investigations.
• Provide independent Shariah compliance advice to business units and promote consistent application of Shariah requirements.

Required profile

• 8–10 years of experience in the insurance or Takaful industry, focusing on audit, review or assurance work.
• Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional qualification.
• Shariah qualified or willing to obtain Shariah certification.
