About the role

The Principal Engineer, Tunnels & Underground provides expert technical and project management expertise to support a leading multi‑disciplinary engineering consultancy operating in Malaysia and international markets. The role involves reviewing key projects, developing concept designs with the team, and helping to target and secure new work.

Key responsibilities

• Review and assess key tunnel and underground projects.
• Develop concept designs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
• Contribute to business development by targeting and securing new contracts.
• Provide supervision, leadership, mentoring and coaching to junior staff.
• Manage a variety of activities within the discipline, ensuring technical excellence.
• Ensure deliverables comply with Malaysian regulatory requirements and relevant international standards.

Required profile

• Strong technical and project management background in tunnel and underground engineering.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor and coach engineering teams.
• Experience working within a multi‑disciplinary consultancy environment.
• Knowledge of Malaysian regulatory frameworks and international engineering standards.
