Tech Lead - EdTech & Agentic AI

About the role

AirAsia Next is looking for a hands-on Tech Lead to guide its development team in building scalable, AI-powered EdTech solutions. The role drives architecture decisions, mentors developers, leads the adoption of agentic AI capabilities and ensures high-quality delivery with Node.js, React / Next.js, MySQL and Google Cloud Platform.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor frontend and backend developers.
• Design and deliver scalable full-stack solutions.
• Define and drive the technical strategy for integrating agentic AI features (AI tutoring assistants, content generation, adaptive learning workflows).
• Architect and build agentic AI systems, including LLM orchestration, tool calling and RAG pipelines, directly or through close oversight.
• Own cloud architecture on GCP, including service selection, scalability and cost optimization.
• Guide data architecture, including pipelines and analytics/reporting, with data stakeholders.
• Oversee coding standards, code reviews, testing and CI/CD.
• Work with product and design teams and troubleshoot issues across the stack.

Required profile

• 7+ years in software development, 3+ years as a Tech Lead; BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of related software engineering experience.
• Comfortable coding in Node.js, Java or Python.
• Experience designing and deploying highly available, fault-tolerant applications and strong SDLC knowledge.
• Leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.

Required skills

• JavaScript / TypeScript, Node.js, React / Next.js.
• MySQL schema design and optimization.
• Agentic AI systems, LLM orchestration, tool/function calling, RAG pipelines or agent frameworks (e.g. LangGraph, AutoGen).
• Google Cloud Platform.
• CI/CD tools (GitLab Pipelines, Travis).
• SOLID principles; deep experience with one of GCP, AWS or Azure.

Good to have: GitLab CI/CD, Docker / Kubernetes, EdTech background, BigQuery exposure.
