Entry-Level Data Scientist - Semiconductor Engineering & Automation

About the role

NXP is looking for an entry-level data scientist to join its semiconductor engineering team in Kuala Lumpur. The role suits recent graduates who want to apply data science and automation to solve engineering challenges and improve manufacturing. You will work with Product, Test, Process, Yield and Quality engineers to analyse manufacturing test data, build predictive and diagnostic models and implement automated solutions that raise process efficiency, product quality and yield.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse wafer sort, final test and inline process data to find trends, anomalies and root causes.
• Develop dashboards and visualisations to monitor key metrics across product and test stages.
• Automate data pipelines and reporting tools to support continuous improvement.
• Work with engineering teams and suppliers to integrate functions with the production line, deploy and sustain the quality shield, and turn data insights into improvements.
• Develop AI/ML solutions for non-standard problems.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics or a related field.
• Strong foundation in statistics, data analysis and machine learning.
• Ability to interpret complex datasets and explain findings clearly to engineering teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a collaborative mindset.
• Plus: internship or academic project experience in manufacturing, electronics or data analytics; understanding of semiconductor manufacturing and test processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python or R, including pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn and matplotlib.
• Familiarity with SQL and large-scale databases.
• Experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI is an advantage.
