Senior Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

AirAsia Next is looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join its Platform Engineering team in Kuala Lumpur. You will design, build and operate highly available, secure and scalable cloud platforms on Google Cloud Platform, drive automation across the software delivery lifecycle, and partner with Engineering, Security, DevOps and Product teams to improve reliability, developer productivity and cloud governance. It is a hands-on engineering role.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and operate production platforms on Google Cloud Platform.
• Provision and manage cloud infrastructure with Terraform.
• Implement GitOps workflows with Argo CD and GitLab, and build CI/CD pipelines in GitLab.
• Develop automation scripts and APIs to reduce repetitive operational tasks.
• Manage Cloudflare services (DNS, WAF, CDN, load balancing, Zero Trust) and build observability platforms with monitoring, logging, alerting, tracing and SLO/SLI reporting.
• Take part in on-call rotations, lead incident response, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Work with development teams on application reliability and deployment strategies, and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability, Platform, Cloud or DevOps engineering.
• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with container technologies, incident management and on-call operations.

Required skills

• Google Cloud Platform and Terraform
• GitLab CI/CD and GitOps with Argo CD
• Docker and Kubernetes
• Scripting in Bash, Python or Go
• Monitoring, logging and observability platforms

Preferred: GKE, service mesh (Istio, Linkerd, Envoy), SLO/Error budget knowledge, DevSecOps, FinOps, policy-as-code, and Google Cloud Professional certifications.
