Senior Data Scientist - Asset Remarketing

About the role

Datium Insights is looking for a passionate and innovative Senior Data Scientist to join its data team in Kuala Lumpur, in a fast-paced start-up environment. The role combines leading data projects with hands-on work, focusing on disruptive projects in the asset remarketing industry.

Key responsibilities

• Solve business problems creatively using advanced statistical analysis and machine learning.
• Initiate and drive data projects with product owners and software engineering teams.
• Work with stakeholders across the Pickles Auctions business to deploy and improve AI solutions.
• Run investigative analyses and use predictive modelling to build and improve Datium products.
• Partner with data engineering and business intelligence teams to find efficiencies.
• Build AI solution prototypes and design experiments to test hypotheses.
• Develop, monitor and manage model accuracy metrics in production.
• Maintain high standards of procedural documentation and research new machine learning techniques.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of practical experience in data science, analytics, business consulting, scientific research or similar data-driven roles.
• Experience across the full modelling lifecycle, from ideation to deployment and ongoing monitoring.
• Strong business acumen, project and people management skills, and the ability to communicate clearly in a team.
• Attention to detail and a strong desire to keep learning.

Required skills

• Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms.
• Proficiency in Python and R or other statistical and scientific tools.
• Bonus points: deep learning and computer vision, deploying ML models on Amazon SageMaker or Azure Machine Learning, ETL tools, advanced SQL, noSQL databases, Spark, and visualisation and dashboarding tools.
