Lead Network Engineer (Cloud)

About the role

AirAsia Aviation Management Services (AAAMS) is hiring a full-time Lead Network Engineer (Cloud) in its ICT department at RedQ, reporting to the Regional Network Manager. The role leads the design, deployment, automation and scaling of public, private and multi-cloud network infrastructure, and includes mentoring junior and senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design, deployment, automation and scaling of public, private and multi-cloud network infrastructure (Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, AWS, Alibaba Cloud).
• Engineer hybrid and multi-cloud connectivity, including VPC/VNet peering, Transit Gateways, Cloud Interconnects, Direct Connect, ExpressRoute and software-defined overlays.
• Lead the move to Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform, Ansible and Python.
• Support container and service mesh networking for Kubernetes clusters (EKS, GKE, AKS) and ingress/egress controllers.
• Design cloud network security perimeters, including Cloud Firewalls, Security Groups, WAF, DDoS mitigation and Zero Trust.
• Act as top-tier escalation authority for cloud network incidents and drive permanent architectural fixes.
• Design multi-region failover and disaster recovery strategies.
• Produce reference architectures, runbooks and connectivity standards, and mentor junior and senior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent.
• 9+ years of networking engineering experience, with at least 4+ years in cloud networking and architecture.
• Strong background in enterprise networking protocols and hardware (switches, routers, firewalls).
• Excellent English communication; Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage.
• Desirable: professional cloud network specialty certifications from AWS, GCP or Azure.

Required skills

• Hands-on cloud networking on Google Cloud, Azure, AWS or Alibaba Cloud.
• Docker, Kubernetes and cloud-native networking (CNI, service mesh, SDN).
• IaC and automation with Terraform, Ansible, Python and CI/CD pipelines.
• IPsec VPN, BGP, NAT, L4/L7 load balancing and cloud edge security.
