Head of Engineering (AI Transformation & Core Systems)

About the role

Deriv is seeking a Head of Engineering who is a "Builder-First" leader: someone who started in full-stack development and scaled to the executive suite by challenging the status quo. The role leads a team of global AI engineers and system architects, with the mandate to re-engineer legacy processes and define operations around AI-first architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Migrate the organization from traditional tech (manual CI/CD, static rule engines) to AI-native operations with self-healing systems and automated code generation.
• Build and lead AI systems that handle complex, non-deterministic tasks in real time within a high-stakes trading environment.
• Integrate heavy models and tools without sacrificing speed, keeping latency performance high.
• Oversee the full lifecycle, from backend memory management to high-performance frontend interfaces.
• Identify human-led bottlenecks and replace them with AI-driven optimization.
• Manage and provide vision for world-class AI engineers and system architects.

Required profile

• Deep experience in C++, Rust, Go or Python in high-performance contexts.
• Expertise in LLM fine-tuning, RAG pipelines and vector databases (Milvus/Pinecone).
• Expertise in Kubernetes, distributed systems and kernel-level optimizations for low-latency data streaming.
