Financial Accountant (12‑month contract)

About the role

The Financial Accountant will lead the Financial Compliance and Reporting function for Malaysia, ensuring alignment with local regulations and corporate standards. This 12‑month fixed‑term position supports the finance team in delivering accurate month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end results.

Key responsibilities

• Manage month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closing and reporting cycles.
• Process general accounting transactions and collaborate with the shared services organisation to close the books on schedule.
• Evaluate financial impact of key business activities and communicate requirements to shared services.
• Oversee end‑to‑end transaction processes with local stakeholders, providing insights to resolve operational issues.
• Drive process optimisation and maintain robust internal controls across functions.
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian regulations, BASF corporate policies, and liaise with auditors, tax advisors and local authorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Accountancy or equivalent professional qualification (CPA, ACCA).
• Minimum 5 years of financial accounting experience in an MNC with manufacturing or trading activities.
• Big 4 audit experience is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SAP FI COPA modules.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysia Financial Reporting Standards, IFRS and the Companies Act.
