About the role
AIXTRON is building a new greenfield manufacturing and engineering hub in Batu Kawan, Penang, with a cleanroom environment for assembly and testing of semiconductor equipment. It is looking for an experienced, hands-on Testing & Commissioning Supervisor to lead commissioning operations. - Support the factory setup: workstation preparation, tool validation, process implementation and initial build execution.
- Ensure testing and commissioning procedures, drawings, specifications and quality standards are followed correctly.
- Commission PLC-controlled assemblies and sensors (proximity, temperature, pressure).
- Complete test documentation and support NPI and pilot builds, giving structured feedback to Engineering.
- Monitor daily production performance, manage work allocation and resources, and drive shopfloor discipline and EHS compliance (5S, ergonomics, safety).
- Troubleshoot issues with Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain, coach technicians and operators, and ensure traceability of test records and deviations.
Required profile
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics engineering (Malaysian or international institution).
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical testing and commissioning of complex equipment, preferably in semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing.
- Proven supervisory or team leader experience in a production environment.
- Experience with production ramp-ups, transfers or greenfield setups is highly desirable.
- Strong English (written and spoken); knowledge of Bahasa Malaysia or Mandarin is an advantage.
Required skills
- Reading mechanical drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and assembly documentation.
- Equipment build, system integration and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Vacuum system assembly and leak testing, and orbital or manual TIG welding, are advantageous.
- Understanding of EHS regulations, quality standards and ISO-controlled production.
Working conditions: cleanroom shopfloor, occasional travel to Germany or other regional sites, shift-based work (initially two shifts, rotating during ramp-up), weekend and public holiday coverage, and overtime availability during ramp-up. The role complies with the Malaysian Employment Act.
