Tech Lead - Disaster Recovery and Incident Management

About the role

Deriv is looking for a Tech Lead to own disaster recovery and incident management as an engineering discipline. The role designs and runs failover tests, leads critical incidents in real time, and turns near-misses into a more resilient platform. It is based in Cyberjaya and is full time.

Key responsibilities

• Design, schedule and run DR exercises for business-critical applications, including database failures, regional outages, SaaS disruptions and live failover tests.
• Challenge business impact analyses until RTO/RPO targets reflect actual business risk.
• Keep DR strategies, runbooks and readiness dashboards aligned with production.
• Lead critical and major incidents from declaration to resolution, coordinating engineering, infrastructure, SRE, Compliance and Risk, and make fast calls under pressure.
• Brief the right level of detail to engineers and executives.
• Run post-incident reviews, hold teams accountable for closing findings, and gate new systems until they meet recovery requirements.
• Use AI to model failure scenarios, correlate incident signals and automate runbooks and reporting.

Required profile

• 7-12 years in disaster recovery, business continuity, incident management, infrastructure resilience, SRE or similar.
• Experience commanding a live P1 or P2 incident.
• Practitioner-level understanding of ITIL service management, business continuity, problem management and service design.
• Strong written and verbal communication under pressure, able to brief a war room and an executive in the same hour.
• Fluent with AI tools for scenario modelling, triage support, pattern detection and reporting.

Required skills

• Cloud infrastructure: AWS, GCP, Azure or similar (compute, storage, databases, networking).
• Live DR failover testing experience.
• Bonus: direct experience with Compliance and Risk on regulatory classifications and audit readiness, and experience building DR readiness dashboards.
