Senior Accountant – AR (Japanese speaking)

About the role

The Senior Accountant – AR (Japanese speaking) will manage complex accounts‑receivable transactions, support cash‑flow reporting and act as the subject‑matter expert for AR operations serving Japan markets. The role ensures compliance with accounting standards, internal controls and provides guidance to junior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee end‑to‑end AR processes including cash application, invoice clearing, unapplied cash investigation and revenue‑recognition support.
• Resolve AR exceptions such as short pays, over‑payments, deductions and disputed invoices.
• Monitor AR aging, overdue balances and take actions to minimise outstanding receivables.
• Lead collection activities for assigned Japanese customer portfolios, communicating in Japanese as required.
• Collaborate with Sales, Commercial and Customer Service teams to resolve disputes and accelerate collections.
• Perform bank reconciliations, support treasury in resolving payment discrepancies.
• Execute month‑end close tasks, prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations, support bad‑debt provisioning and CECL reviews.
• Ensure AR operations comply with US GAAP / local GAAP, SOX and maintain audit‑ready documentation.
• Provide functional guidance and on‑the‑job support to junior AR team members.

Required profile

• Senior‑level accounting professional with extensive AR experience.
• Fluent in Japanese for effective communication with Japan‑based stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, local GAAP, SOX and CECL requirements.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor junior staff.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
