Resident Engineer – Architecture, CSA, Mechanical HVAC & Electrical

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking experienced Resident Engineers to lead multidisciplinary teams on datacenter construction projects in Malaysia. The role combines technical oversight, quality assurance, and coordination across architecture, CSA, mechanical HVAC, and electrical disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain the QA/QC plan, ensuring all construction materials and installations meet project standards.
• Verify compliance with approved drawings, local building codes, and client specifications; enforce corrective actions for non‑conformities.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and project managers to resolve quality issues promptly.
• Perform routine site inspections, supervise laboratory and field tests (concrete strength, steel reinforcement, waterproofing, weld integrity, soil compaction).
• Document inspection results, non‑conformances, and corrective actions; prepare bi‑weekly inspection reports.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of defects and follow up with contractors to ensure timely remediation.
• Ensure all construction activities comply with local regulations, client requirements, and industry standards.
• Act as escalation point for quality‑related incidents and provide guidance to site teams.

Required profile

• Registered graduate engineer with BEM (proof of certification required).
• Professional engineer registration with BEM (proof required).
• Maximum age of 55 years and at least 10 years of relevant experience.
• Proficient in reading design drawings and local codes; able to identify construction quality issues.
• Contractual employment of at least one year.
• Bilingual in English and Mandarin/Chinese.
