Associate Full-Stack Software Engineer

About the role

Manulife is looking for a motivated Associate Full-Stack Software Engineer to join its software development team in Kuala Lumpur. The engineer takes part in designing, developing, testing, deploying and supporting web and digital applications using modern full-stack technologies and AI-assisted engineering practices. The position is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test, deploy and maintain web applications, turning business requirements into technical solutions and building reusable, secure components.
• Build responsive front-end interfaces with Angular or similar frameworks, TypeScript, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, working with UX/UI designers and ensuring cross-browser compatibility and accessibility.
• Develop and maintain back-end services, RESTful APIs and business logic with Java, Spring Boot or equivalent, integrating with databases and external services.
• Use approved AI tools such as GitHub Copilot or Microsoft Copilot for code generation, documentation and troubleshooting, reviewing and validating all AI outputs against secure coding and data protection standards.
• Use AI-assisted automated testing for test case generation, defect analysis and regression testing, and support shift-left quality checks.
• Take part in sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews and retrospectives, and use Git, peer code review and pull requests.
• Follow SDLC, release, change, security and compliance controls, and contribute to DevOps, DevSecOps and CI/CD.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems or a related field.
• Fresh graduates with strong internship, academic, open-source or personal project experience are encouraged to apply.
• Clear communication with users, technical teams and business stakeholders, verbal and written.

Preferred qualifications

• Exposure to insurance, banking or financial services through experience, internships or projects.
• Experience with web, mobile or enterprise apps in a regulated environment.
• Understanding of software security, data privacy and compliance in financial services.
