Applied AI Engineer

About the role

Deriv is looking for an Applied AI Engineer in Cyberjaya to build software with AI as the primary development interface. The company ships production systems for over 3 million traders and is building autonomous systems that run business functions such as HR, security, marketing, compliance, product and finance. The role is full-time.

Key responsibilities

• Ideate and build with AI: use AI to explore problem spaces, generate product ideas and turn vague problems into working prototypes
• Code with AI as your co-developer, using tools such as Claude Code or Cursor to generate, refactor, test and document code
• Review and improve AI-generated code, and build guardrails and feedback loops that surface problems automatically
• Own the full arc of a feature: idea, architecture, implementation, deployment and iteration, shipping production-ready features
• Help build and deploy autonomous AI agents that run continuously, maintain context and take real actions

Required profile

• 2-8 years of software engineering experience, already working in an AI-first way with tools like Claude Code or Cursor
• Experience shipping production software, not just prototypes or side projects
• Fast pace: prototyping, testing with real users and iterating quickly
• Bonus: experimentation with autonomous agents such as the Claude Agent SDK, OpenClaw or OpenAI Codex agents

Required skills

• Full-stack comfort: frontend, backend, APIs, databases and deployment
• Languages: TypeScript and Python, plus whatever the project needs
• Infrastructure: AWS, GCP, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker
• Tool-agnostic approach to AI development environments
