Key Account Manager – Coal & Coke

About the role

The Key Account Manager will drive revenue growth for coal and coke inspection, sampling, surveying, testing and related services in Malaysia. The focus is on acquiring and managing key accounts across the coal/coke supply chain, leveraging existing relationships to deliver quick revenue impact.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, pursue and close new and existing opportunities for coal & coke inspection, quantity surveys, sampling and analysis services.
• Leverage personal network to generate measurable revenue within the first 3–6 months.
• Develop and execute account plans to increase share of wallet with traders, importers, steel mills, cement plants, power utilities and port operators.
• Manage the full client lifecycle from needs assessment through proposal, negotiation, contract management and service delivery oversight.
• Monitor import trends, major shipments through Malaysian ports and competitor activities to provide market intelligence.
• Collaborate with internal operations, lab, surveyors and chemists to ensure seamless service delivery.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of business development or key account management experience in commodities, preferably coal/coke.
• Established relationships with coal/coke traders, importers, steel or cement manufacturers in Malaysia or SEA.
• Strong understanding of the coal & coke supply chain, quality testing and regulatory requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, chemistry or a related field.
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin or Bahasa Indonesia is a strong advantage.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ASTM D4294 total sulphur testing.
• Experience with calorific value, proximate and ultimate analysis.
• Proficiency in sampling procedures and quantity determination.
• Familiarity with ASTM and ISO international standards.
• Strong negotiation and contract management capabilities.
