Technical Lead – Process Optimization Software

About the role

AVEVA is seeking a Technical Lead to drive real‑time optimization projects for refinery and petrochemical operations using AVEVA™ Process Optimization software. The role involves end‑to‑end implementation, cross‑functional collaboration, and support for presales activities across Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in project kickoff and design specification meetings.
• Lead the preparation and review of Functional Design Specifications (FDS).
• Configure AVEVA™ Process Optimization applications and conduct model reviews.
• Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and oversee site commissioning and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
• Prepare comprehensive project documentation.
• Deliver user training sessions and provide ongoing application support on‑site and remotely.
• Collaborate with sales to develop technical proposals, cost estimates, and solution scoping.
• Support value‑based engagements, benefits tracking, and alignment to commercial outcomes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Chemical Engineering.
• 5+ years experience with real‑time optimization systems.
• Minimum 8 years experience in refinery, petrochemical, chemical or EPC sectors.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.

• Process simulators such as PRO/II, HYSYS, Aspen Plus, PetroSIM.
• VBA macro development.
• Advanced Process Control (APC) concepts.
• Plant data systems and enterprise‑level network architecture.
