Senior Programme Officer – Peatland Programme

About the role

The Global Environment Centre is seeking a Senior Programme Officer to lead its Peatland Programme in Pekan, Pahang, Malaysia. The role focuses on delivering impactful peatland and forest conservation projects while fostering collaborations with government agencies, local communities, and the private sector.

Key responsibilities

• Lead peatland and forest conservation projects in Pahang, ensuring alignment with national environmental objectives.
• Engage and coordinate with government agencies, community groups, and private sector partners to support project implementation.
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships that enhance the effectiveness of conservation initiatives.
• Guide and coordinate a multidisciplinary team to deliver programme outcomes on schedule.
• Contribute to national and regional peatland initiatives, sharing best practices and lessons learned.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading peatland or forest conservation projects.
• Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with government, community, and private sector stakeholders.
• Strong team coordination and leadership skills.
