ESG Manager

About the role

The ESG Manager will support the Malaysia Climate Infrastructure Fund and other Climate Fund Managers' funds, driving ESG integration across the investment lifecycle. Based in Kuala Lumpur with travel to Singapore and project sites, the role reports to the Regional ESG Manager in Singapore.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct ESG due diligence on deals, including climate assessments, exclusion checks, and stakeholder engagement.
• Prepare inputs for investment papers, attend investment committee meetings, and support health, safety, environmental, and social aspects of investments.
• Lead project development tasks such as IFC‑compliant ESIA, RfP preparation, consultant selection, and technical review of reports.
• Implement ESG governance, conduct internal audits, and support strategic ESG initiatives.
• Review ESG and impact data, prepare narratives for investor reports, and conduct field‑based monitoring.

Required profile

• Degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in ESG, sustainability, impact investing, or environmental and social management.
• Proven expertise in renewable energy, water, wastewater, or waste infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of IFC Performance Standards and lender ESG requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal English; Malay proficiency is a strong advantage.
