Senior Operation Quality Manager

About the role

AIXTRON is building a new greenfield manufacturing and engineering hub in Batu Kawan, Penang, with operations planned to start in 2027. The Operations Quality Manager establishes, maintains and continuously improves the company's Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001 standards and group-wide processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory, certification and customer requirements. The role oversees quality governance across incoming goods inspection, manufacturing, product releases, field quality and repairs, and works closely with the Managing Director of Operations.

Key responsibilities

• Set up quality processes and documentation, and lead the business through external audits (ISO re-certification, surveillance, customer audits)
• Maintain and optimise the quality system, aligning it with group processes and supporting leadership, product development and manufacturing
• Raise awareness of compliance with laws, regulations and standards, and support the definition of company objectives and KPIs
• Lead internal audits of all departments, coach managers and manage the document management system
• Manage the incoming goods inspection area, staff and tools, including first sample reports, sampling, records and serial numbers in SAP, and handle returns and blocked stock
• Control quality gates and releases on the shop floor, support production on manufacturing and optimisation of standard and prototype equipment, and manage non-conformances, rework and field service notifications
• Handle the repairs process and track quality metrics such as warranty costs, rework hours and non-conformances
• Supervise direct reports, including budget control, recruiting, appraisals, training and development

Required profile

• Extensive experience in a lean manufacturing environment
• Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent qualification or experience
• Manufacturing background focused on new product introduction
• Project management experience is essential
• Resourceful, adaptable and able to solve problems
• Experience improving quality systems in an industrial environment

Required skills

• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Experience with vacuum systems, pneumatics, gas systems and automation is an advantage
• Experience with SAP is a plus
