Resident Engineer, Controls

About the role

The Building Controls Engineer (Resident Engineer, Controls) will lead the on‑site implementation, integration, testing and commissioning of building management and control systems for critical infrastructure projects. You will ensure that mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems operate efficiently, meet design specifications and integrate seamlessly with the overall building automation platform.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee on‑site installation and integration of control systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications, project timelines and quality standards.
• Conduct regular inspections and assessments of control systems and related infrastructure to maintain high‑quality standards and safety compliance.
• Serve as the primary liaison between contractors, design teams and clients, facilitating communication and resolving technical issues.
• Address and resolve technical challenges during installation and operation to minimise project disruption.
• Maintain detailed records of system configurations, modifications and performance metrics, providing regular reports to stakeholders.
• Ensure all installations comply with local regulations, industry standards and safety protocols specific to Malaysia’s data‑center operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering or a related field.
• 8‑10 years of experience in control systems engineering, preferably within data‑center or critical infrastructure projects.
• In‑depth knowledge of control systems, automation technologies and data‑center infrastructure.
• Familiarity with industry‑standard software and tools used for control system design and implementation.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, effective communication skills and the capacity to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
