Process & Maintenance Burn-In & AOI Vision Engineer

About the role

Join Bosch Group’s newest semiconductor test site in Batu Kawan, Penang, as a Process & Maintenance Burn‑In & AOI Vision Engineer. You will be responsible for developing, optimizing and maintaining burn‑in and automated optical inspection (AOI) processes that ensure the reliability of semiconductor devices and PCB assemblies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise burn‑in test procedures, defining temperature, voltage, duration and stress levels.
• Design burn‑in boards, fixtures and test hardware.
• Analyse burn‑in data to identify failure trends and root causes.
• Troubleshoot hardware and process issues in burn‑in operations.
• Support qualification and reliability testing such as HTOL, HAST and temperature cycling.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (JEDEC, MIL‑STD, IPC).
• Automate data collection and reporting for yield and reliability analysis.
• Develop, program and optimise AOI inspection programs for PCB assemblies.
• Set up, maintain and calibrate 2D/3D AOI equipment.
• Analyse defect data, improve detection capability and reduce false rejects.
• Support new product introduction by creating AOI programs and validation plans.
• Monitor AOI performance metrics (FPY, false call rate, escape rate) and drive continuous improvement.
• Responsible for pre‑acceptance and release of machines, including setup, fine‑tuning, sustaining and maintenance.

Required profile

• Experience with burn‑in testing of semiconductor devices or components.
• Familiarity with qualification and reliability tests (HTOL, HAST, temperature cycling).
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards (JEDEC, MIL‑STD, IPC).
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware, mechanical and electrical issues in test environments.
• Experience with AOI systems (2D/3D vision inspection) and program development.
• Strong data‑analysis skills for yield and defect analysis.
