Process Engineering Manager

About the role

The Process Engineering Manager oversees the introduction of new manufacturing technologies and equipment into production, making sure they are scalable, stable and ready for volume manufacturing. The role also focuses on improving operational performance, reducing cost and strengthening the technical capability of the engineering team. The position is full time, permanent and on-site in Perai, Penang.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the transition of new processes and equipment from development into production.
• Ensure manufacturing processes meet required standards for yield, output, quality and consistency.
• Lead the commissioning and production readiness of new equipment.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and manufacturing cost.
• Establish long-term improvement plans for processes and equipment.
• Lead engineering teams in resolving complex manufacturing and technical issues.
• Develop technical knowledge and strengthen engineering competencies across the team.
• Support continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives across manufacturing.

Required profile

• Degree or postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Photonics, Physics, Optics or a related technical discipline.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in semiconductor, optics or advanced manufacturing environments.
• Strong background in process development, manufacturing scale-up or technology industrialization.
• Prior experience leading engineering teams or technical functions.

Required skills

• Familiarity with processes such as polishing/CMP, grinding, coating, dicing, stacking or precision machining.
• Statistical methods, DOE, process optimization and Six Sigma tools.
