Market Research Analyst

About the role

A Malaysian distributor and retailer of premium travel, luggage and lifestyle accessory brands is hiring a market research professional in Kuala Lumpur. The role combines analysis of offline retail and online sales data with field research at retail outlets, supporting business planning and decision-making.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse offline retail and online sales data to identify trends, sales patterns and business opportunities.
• Monitor product and category performance, highlighting areas for improvement and growth.
• Conduct competitor and market research to understand market movements and consumer behaviour.
• Visit retail outlets and engage with promoters to gather ground-level feedback and market insights.
• Consolidate quantitative sales data and qualitative feedback into meaningful business recommendations.
• Develop business plans and strategies based on sales performance, market findings and commercial opportunities.
• Work closely with internal teams to support business planning and decision-making.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Market Research, Statistics or a related discipline.
• 3-5 years of experience in market research, consumer insights, sales analysis, trade marketing, category management or a related field.
• Commercially minded, with a good understanding of retail sales performance and consumer behaviour.
• Comfortable visiting outlets and talking to frontline retail staff; able to work independently, with attention to detail.
• Retail, FMCG, lifestyle or e-commerce experience is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong analytical skills, able to interpret sales data and spot meaningful trends.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to manage and analyse datasets.
