Maintenance Manager - Baggage Handling System (BHS)

About the role

Vanderlande, a leading provider of airport logistics solutions including baggage and cargo handling equipment, is looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance of a mission-critical Airport Baggage Handling System (BHS) in Sepang. The role covers operational leadership, team management, system reliability, SLA/KPI compliance, safety and continuous improvement, and acts as a key interface with the client, partner and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise BHS maintenance activities and manage maintenance teams from Vanderlande, consortium partners and client resources.
• Ensure high availability, reliability and compliance with contractual SLAs and KPIs.
• Analyse system performance, failures and trends, and drive corrective and preventive actions including root cause analysis and action closure.
• Review maintenance plans, spare parts management and failure reduction initiatives, and check spare parts availability and replenishment status.
• Conduct regular site inspections and quality audits, and lead internal and client review meetings.
• Manage manpower deployment, optimise team performance and prepare performance reports, forecasts and dashboards for management and clients.
• Ensure compliance with EHS, QMS and audit requirements according to Vanderlande standards and local regulations.
• Drive training, competency development and multi-skilling of teams, and identify and mitigate operational risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation or Mechatronics Engineering; Master's degree or professional certifications (PMP, Reliability, EHS) are an advantage.
• 10+ years of experience in maintenance of automated or material handling systems.
• 5+ years in a managerial or leadership role.
• Strong experience with BHS maintenance and airport operations preferred.
• Proven client-facing and partner management experience, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
