Global Customs Duty Optimization (Senior Executive)

About the role

BASF is hiring a Senior Executive for Global Customs Duty Optimization in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The role supports customs duty optimization across international operations while ensuring compliance with customs regulations, working with Customs, Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement and Business stakeholders to identify savings and report on them.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze customs duty data and prepare trend analyses to spot cost optimization opportunities and assess financial impacts of changes in customs legislation.
• Support cost-benefit evaluations and collaborate with Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement and Business Units on optimization initiatives.
• Monitor duty exemption, deferment, suspension and other savings programs, including their financial impact and realized benefits.
• Perform analyses on tariff classification and other customs matters.
• Prepare cost development reports, dashboards and management updates with findings and recommendations.
• Monitor duty drawback, refunds, incentives, recovery programs, aging items and track financial exposure, penalties and fines.
• Maintain KPIs on customs duty optimization and savings realization across regions.
• Support process improvements, reporting enhancements, automation and data quality activities.
• Help regional stakeholders collect, validate and consolidate customs duty information, and work flexibly across time zones.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, International Trade, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in Finance, Audit, Customs, Controlling or related fields.
• Fluent English, spoken and written.
• Attention to detail and ability to turn data analysis into actionable insights.

Required skills

• Knowledge of customs legislation, import/export regulations and customs duty optimization is an advantage.
• Proficiency in SAP ERP, SAP GTS, Power BI or similar reporting tools is an advantage.
