Global Bulk Parcel Operations Manager

About the role

The Global Bulk Parcel Operations Manager is responsible for administering BASF’s Contract of Affreightment (COA) for parcel tanker shipments across the Asia Pacific region. The role ensures cost‑efficient, compliant bulk parcel shipping while supporting business units with expert shipping advice.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and operationalise the COA for parcel tanker shipments, including day‑to‑day management and KPI measurement.
• Lead, manage and supervise shipbrokers in their daily activities.
• Execute post‑fixture activities, monitor ship movements, and optimise turnaround times in line with charter parties.
• Maintain continuous dialogue with business units to understand needs and provide optimal shipping arrangements.
• Monitor ship‑owner performance, develop KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with shipowners, brokers, terminals and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless bulk parcel operations and resolve issues.
• Conduct presentations and training on post‑fixture processes, laytime calculation and related shipping topics.
• Oversee laytime and demurrage calculations, ensuring accurate reporting and action.
• Develop and implement guidelines, processes, SLAs and cost‑charging mechanisms for bulk parcel services.
• Ensure timely processing of freight invoices and shipowner claims, driving resolutions as needed.
• Support logistics concepts for potential BASF investments in bulk parcel movements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in bulk parcel or tanker shipping operations, preferably in the Asia Pacific region.
• Strong understanding of COA administration, charter parties and maritime regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead shipbrokers and coordinate multi‑stakeholder projects.
• Excellent analytical skills for KPI development, performance monitoring and demurrage assessment.
• Effective communication skills to interact with business units and external partners.
