Finance Manager

About the role

AirAsia X is looking for a Finance Manager based in Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia. The role is central to keeping the airline's finances healthy and stable, covering accounting oversight, reporting, working capital and the supervision of a shared service centre team.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and optimise accounting functions to keep them accurate and efficient.
• Manage monthly account closure and prepare month-end, year-end and statutory financial reports.
• Protect working capital and make strategic decisions to maintain financial liquidity.
• Review, regulate and reconcile accruals, provisions and prepayments in line with Group accounting policies.
• Supervise and guide the team in the shared service centre.
• Act as go-to expert for reconciliations and checks of receivables, payables and bank statements, and investigate GL/sub-ledger variances.
• Handle historical prepayment reconciliations and analyse discrepancies that prevent offsetting.
• Resolve accounts payable issues with the manager or the shared service centre as needed.
• Work with cross-functional teams to coordinate, review and implement IT and ERP improvements.
• Consolidate the financial statements of wholly owned subsidiaries and prepare quarterly reports for the Board.
• Monitor related party transactions for transparency and compliance, and take on ad hoc tasks as they arise.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accountancy or finance, or an equivalent professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, MICPA).
• 3-5 years of relevant experience, including a background in external audit.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
• Able to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Accounting and financial reporting.
