Country Chief Accountant (Japanese/Korean Speaker)

About the role

Roche is looking for a Country Chief Accountant based in Petaling Jaya who speaks Japanese or Korean. The role works closely with the SSC KL Finance teams (AP, GAMA, AR, TR, T&E, Compliance and Procurement) to deliver timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end and year-end closings, and covers the financial accuracy of the affiliate's accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with SSC KL Finance teams and run month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities according to the month-end close checklist.
• Analyse profit and loss and balance sheet accounts and own the ICFR documentation and tools (INVOLVE and BWI).
• Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, follow up open items and fix anomalies.
• Submit sustainability and insurance reporting packages on time, and handle IFRS 16 leasing matters (SimSol / Planon).
• Approve manual journal entries and manage period cost, COPA and SSC allocations.
• Manage accounts receivable (manual billings, debtor ageing) and accounts payable (vendor invoices, payments).
• Cash flow forecasting, FX deals, credit facilities, payment requests and banking matters.
• Manage master data such as chart of accounts, cost and profit centers, WBS, vendors and customers.
• Prepare statutory tax calculations and audit schedules, liaise with the tax consultant and auditor, and take part in compliance audits.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities and act as main contact for SSC KL Finance and the affiliate's FM on financial issues.

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or equivalent; ACCA, CPA Australia or similar is an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field, with at least 3 years in an accountant or audit role.
• Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, audit and taxation.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and influence skills; able to work across cultures and commit to business travel.
• Proficiency in English, Japanese or Korean is an added advantage.
