Senior Software Engineer

About the role

AirAsia MOVE, a budget travel company focused on ASEAN and part of the Capital A Group, is looking for Senior Software Engineers to join its fast-growing Engineering team in Kuala Lumpur. You will help deliver secure, scalable solutions integrated with internal and external systems while improving engineering standards, balancing technical proficiency, execution and teamwork.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver solutions for well-defined components and services, applying sound architectural practices for security, performance and scalability.
• Write clean, efficient, maintainable code using modern best practices (TDD, CI/CD) and contribute to code reviews and the adoption of new technologies.
• Take part in Agile/Scrum teams, refine backlogs, plan sprints and run retrospectives, and give task-level estimates.
• Deliver quality through testing, documentation and best coding practices, working with DevOps, QA and Product teams to reach production.
• Share knowledge through documentation, mentorship and internal sharing sessions, and experiment with emerging technologies to improve tools, processes and systems.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Backend development with Java (Spring Boot) and Node.js; Python; React.js is a plus.
• Experience building scalable, highly available and secure applications, and with large-scale production systems.
• Preferred: exposure to Agile, cloud cost optimization, security best practices, and performance/load testing at scale.

Required skills

• Git, branching and merging strategies.
• Data structures and algorithms, JavaScript (ES5) and front-end integration.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containers (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
• CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle) and test automation and monitoring.
• Preferred: OpenTelemetry monitoring, and strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
