Senior Business Data Analyst

About the role

A public listed multinational with a portfolio of businesses in property, hospitality and retail across Asia Pacific has opened a digital division and is hiring a Senior Data Analyst based in Kuala Lumpur. The candidate will act as the lead data strategist, working with engineering and business teams to turn new datasets into product value.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze data for trends and patterns and interpret it with a clear objective
• Enable smarter business processes and implement analytics that give meaningful insights
• Understand business needs and set up data analysis that helps management and operating teams decide
• Design and operationalize analysis and reports, and train teams to use them
• Design and operationalize the next-generation cloud data warehouse

Required profile

• At least 8 years' experience in data analytics or business intelligence
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics or a related discipline; a master's degree is an advantage
• Advanced pattern recognition and predictive modeling experience
• Comfortable in a dynamic, research-oriented environment with several concurrent projects, and able to work with remote teams

Required skills

• Business intelligence tools such as Tableau and Power BI
• Statistical packages such as R, Python, Excel, JMP, SPSS and SAS
• Data extraction from SQL/NoSQL databases and data lakes, and semi-structured formats like Avro, Parquet and JSON
• Cloud services: Snowflake, EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift, BigQuery and Azure SQL
• Advantages: big data tools (Hadoop, Kafka, Delta Lake, Databricks), stream processing (Spark Streaming), strong scripting and machine learning knowledge
