Practice Area Lead – Content Strategy & Author Management

About the role

The Practice Area Lead is accountable for shaping the content strategy, roadmap and subject‑matter expertise of a designated practice area portfolio. This includes content acquisition, development, author management and product strategy, ensuring that all material remains current, accurate and delivered on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Commission new authors and relevant content; decommission existing authors and plan author succession.
• Acquire content from existing contributors and guarantee timely delivery.
• Maintain expertise in the practice area, monitor legal developments and track key parties and subscriber bases.
• Provide data and insights to support product development and assist managers with product reviews and reports.
• Collaborate with editorial, writing and operations teams to edit manuscripts, conduct original research and drive continuous process improvements.
• Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, support sales and marketing with content information, and manage author relationships.

Required profile

• Tertiary education qualification required, preferably in Law.
• Strong business and commercial acumen.
• Working knowledge of publishing workflow from concept to delivery.
• Excellent legal research abilities and the capacity to manage multiple stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with the MS Office suite.
• General legal research skills.
• Good grasp of technology and publishing processes.
