Design Engineer – Structure & Mechanical

About the role

The Design Engineer (Structure & Mechanical) will deliver certifiable aircraft structure and mechanical designs throughout the project lifecycle, from concept and CAD modelling to modification, testing and return to service. The role works closely with customers, internal departments and external partners to ensure designs meet safety, performance and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Gather and define design requirements with customers, suppliers and OEMs, and develop technical proposals.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, CAD models and technical documentation for aircraft modifications, repairs and upgrades.
• Execute Means of Compliance in line with certification plans (e.g., CS‑27, CS‑29) and produce justification reports, design analyses and test documentation.
• Coordinate with stress, testing and configuration teams, as well as approved labs, to optimise designs and verify compliance data.
• Maintain traceability of compliance evidence within the Design Assurance System and deliver outputs on schedule.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD modelling and engineering drawing creation.
• Knowledge of aircraft certification standards such as CS‑27 and CS‑29.
• Experience with Design Assurance Systems and Means of Compliance documentation.
• Ability to produce technical reports, design analyses and test documentation.
• Understanding of aircraft structural and mechanical retrofit processes.
