Commodity Manager / Buyer

About the role

NXP is looking for a Commodity Manager/Buyer in Kuala Lumpur to develop and execute long-term, market-based sourcing strategies for Facility Management, Real Estate and Utilities. The role applies industrial engineering knowledge to evaluate facility management equipment and systems so that NXP locations run at the lowest total cost of operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead sourcing for assigned commodity groups, including risk mitigation and negotiation strategies, and negotiate, review and execute procurement contracts and agreements in line with legal requirements.
• Provide market trend and benchmark data to the supply base team and report KPIs regularly to stakeholders.
• Run the RFP process, set up negotiation plans and lead negotiations for assigned commodities.
• Identify, qualify, rank and select suppliers, and manage supplier performance on quality, cost, delivery, service and technology support.
• Propose cost-reduction opportunities through alternate sourcing and supply assurance, and act as first escalation point for supplier issues.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers' account managers and share best practices across business areas.
• Work on continuous improvement of processes and quality, and report forecast cost roadmaps and actuals regularly.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree.
• Previous experience in purchasing or supply chain management, preferably in semiconductors or another electronics-related industry.
• Strong communication, analytical, presentation and negotiation skills, and ability to present to executive management.
• Collaboration skills to coordinate cross-functional projects with local and global stakeholders and suppliers.
• Business ethics and integrity.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• SAP experience is preferable.
