Civil & Structural Engineer – Construction Supervision

About the role

The Civil and Structural Engineer will lead quality assurance, construction monitoring and coordination for industrial civil works in Sabah. You will ensure compliance with drawings, specifications and safety standards while supporting the project’s progress and commissioning readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and inspect all civil and structural construction activities, including earthworks, piling, foundations, steel structures, buildings, utilities, drainage, roads and fences.
• Review EPCC works for compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications and project standards.
• Conduct site inspections, quality audits, hold‑point inspections and witness material testing, raising NCRs and tracking corrective actions.
• Coordinate daily site activities, resolve technical issues with EPCC, subcontractors and consultants, and support construction planning and sequencing.
• Track progress against schedules, prepare daily, weekly and monthly progress reports, and maintain records of inspections and test results.
• Assist in design clarifications, communicate with the HQ Design Office, and confirm civil works are ready for commissioning.
• Ensure HSE compliance, participate in job method statement and hazard analysis preparation, and promote safe working practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
• Registered Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
• 8–10 years of experience in industrial civil and structural construction, preferably in gas engines, turbines or thermal power plant projects.
• Experience supervising foundations and structures for heavy industrial equipment.
• Ability to work in harsh environments, under pressure and extended hours.
• Residency or prior work experience in Sabah is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with project scheduling and reporting tools.
• Knowledge of civil construction quality control procedures and inspection requirements.
• Ability to interpret civil engineering drawings and technical specifications.
