Big Data Migration Architect (Malaysia)

About the role

Tencent Cloud, within the Cloud & Smart Industries Group (CSIG), is hiring a Big Data Migration Architect in Malaysia. The role designs and delivers cloud migration projects for public cloud customers, moving overseas mainstream data platforms to Tencent Cloud WeData combined with DLC/EMR (a storage-compute separation architecture). It covers end-to-end project management, technical support and performance optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design migration architectures and implement them hands-on, focusing on moving overseas stacks such as BigQuery, Databricks and Snowflake to Tencent Cloud WeData + DLC/EMR, deploying environments, synchronising data and performing business cutovers.
• Own the project schedule, risk control and technical governance, coordinating internal and external resources to deliver the migration successfully.
• Act as the main technical point of contact for troubleshooting, keeping data consistent and business continuous while guiding customers through the transition.
• Provide full-stack technical support, including SQL syntax conversion, Spark/Flink operator tuning and post-migration performance benchmarking.
• Work with Solution Architects to summarise customer needs and pain points, refine migration roadmaps and co-author "Best Practice Manuals" for migrating from overseas cloud platforms.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or a related field, with 5+ years of experience in Big Data.
• Extensive experience implementing and managing Big Data migrations, including large-scale cloud migration projects (PB-level).
• Strong ability to analyse systems and resolve complex architectural issues, including cluster performance tuning, source code optimisation and version upgrades; managing large-scale clusters (1000+ nodes) is preferred.
• Excellent communication, customer service awareness and resource coordination skills, able to work under pressure in cross-cloud and overseas migration scenarios.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, Scala or Python) with strong coding skills.
• Familiarity with the architecture of at least one major platform (BigQuery, Databricks or Snowflake) and its differences from open-source ecosystems (Spark, Hive); cross-cloud migration experience is a plus.
• Deep understanding of the Hadoop ecosystem, with source-code level or deep tuning experience in HDFS, Yarn, Spark, Hive, Flink, Doris, Iceberg/Hudi.
