Technician II, Repair & Maintenance Engineering

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Technician II to join its Repair & Maintenance Engineering team in Malaysia. The role focuses on planning, designing, and executing maintenance programs for production, laboratory, and quality control equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and high reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Execute preventive maintenance (PM) activities to minimize machine downtime and non‑conformance reports.
• Use correct SOPs and validated documentation for all planned activities.
• Maintain accurate PM records and provide 24/7 support to production.
• Monitor spare‑part inventory and coordinate with the spare‑part room.
• Assist engineers with cost‑reduction initiatives, machine set‑up, and efficiency improvements.
• Participate in new equipment installation and validation programs.
• Support engineers with documentation and job execution.
• Facilitate effective communication across shifts and ensure smooth hand‑overs.
• Investigate equipment‑related process and quality failures and implement permanent solutions.
• Contribute to business development projects as a lead, support, or executor.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of mechanical/electrical technician experience, or a diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering for fresh graduates.
• Ability to work 12‑hour rotational shifts.
• Good documentation practices and familiarity with GMP/GDP standards.
