Trade Compliance Manager

About the role

The Trade Compliance Manager will drive the continuous development of BASF’s Standard for Trade Compliance, ensuring regulatory requirements are translated into practical business solutions across the Asia‑Pacific region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and contextualise BASF’s Trade Compliance standards for diverse business scenarios.
• Collaborate with Global Topic Owners (e.g., Embargos, Dual‑use, Defense, Chemicals Trade Control) to shape compliance approaches.
• Evaluate compliance concepts, assess implementation effectiveness, and support legal entities worldwide.
• Design and enhance risk‑assessment frameworks, templates, and models aligned with corporate business models.
• Provide consultancy on EU sanctions impact, conduct deep‑dive partner evaluations, and liaise on AML, German Supply Chain Act, Modern Slavery issues.
• Offer global oversight of National Trade Compliance activities, consolidate executive reports, and identify improvement opportunities.
• Maintain a regulatory repository, manage audit and incident platforms, and drive communication and awareness initiatives.

Required profile

• University degree in business law, legal studies, international trade, or Business/Economics with a focus on Trade Compliance.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience in trade compliance, regulatory affairs, or related fields.
• Regulatory certification is a plus.
