Senior Managing Counsel – Vice President, Regulated Cross‑Border Money Transmission

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a senior legal leader to oversee global product legal for its Cross‑Border Services. The role combines strategic counsel with hands‑on deal work, supporting the development of innovative money‑movement solutions across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide proactive legal advice for global product development, addressing regulatory, commercial and risk considerations.
• Partner with product, technology, operations, treasury and commercialization teams to design and launch new cross‑border payment solutions.
• Structure, draft and negotiate high‑value commercial and technology agreements with financial institutions, fintechs and strategic partners.
• Monitor global regulatory developments, shape policy positions and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop legal playbooks, templates and approval processes to ensure consistency across markets.
• Lead and mentor a team of product counsels, fostering inclusion and professional growth.
• Engage external counsel as needed and create training programs for compliant product development.

Required profile

• Extensive legal experience in payments, money transmission and emerging technologies.
• Proven ability to lead global teams and influence senior stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment.
• Deep knowledge of multi‑jurisdictional transactions, regulatory frameworks and risk management.
• Strong commercial acumen and experience negotiating complex technology agreements.
