Senior Geologist

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Geologist to lead Ad Terra’s geological consulting and modelling activities from our Kuala Lumpur office. The role spans multi‑resource projects (oil & gas, geothermal, critical elements) and provides technical advice to internal operating companies and external clients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide geological consultancy and technical assurance across OpCos and external partners, acting as the reference for stratigraphy, structural geology and reservoir characterization.
• Compile, quality‑check and integrate lithological, petrographic and biostratigraphic data into static geological models; build and update structural and stratigraphic models using well and seismic data.
• Run volume forecasts, support reserves and resources reporting, and maintain geological databases.
• Develop and apply AI/ML‑assisted workflows for facies classification, core and log interpretation, and evaluate emerging AI tools for the geoscience team.
• Coordinate geological inputs with geophysics, petrophysics and reservoir engineering teams and liaise with JV partners, regulators and consultants.
• Provide remote geological look‑ahead, review wellsite reports and recommend casing points, coring intervals and total‑depth calls.

Required profile

• University degree (MSc or PhD) in Geology, Geophysics or a related discipline.
• 8–12 years of hands‑on oil & gas experience in exploration, development or production.
• Strong knowledge of sequence stratigraphy, facies prediction and basin modelling.
• Experience delivering geological consultancy across multiple assets or operators.
• Familiarity with PETRONAS project lifecycle, JV/PSC models and Malaysian upstream regulations (advantageous).
• Excellent English communication, presentation and report‑writing skills.
