About the role
Tenby International School Setia EcoHill is seeking an enthusiastic Mandarin teacher for Key Stages 3 and 4 (IGCSE). The school follows a progressive, collaborative approach and expects the teacher to inspire students to achieve strong results while contributing to the wider school community.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver Mandarin lessons for Key Stage 3 and 4 in line with the Cambridge International Secondary curriculum.
- Assess, record and report on student progress and attainment.
- Create a visible and impactful learning environment that supports student well‑being.
- Collaborate with the Head of Department and colleagues in meetings, year‑level teams and whole‑school initiatives.
- Maintain open communication with parents regarding progress and wellbeing.
- Engage in CPD to stay current with language pedagogy and international education trends.
- Plan and lead extracurricular activities, school events and enrichment opportunities.
- Serve as a form tutor, supporting the pastoral development of students.
- Uphold the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Chinese Language or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching Mandarin, preferably in an international or bilingual setting.
- Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGDT, PGCEi or equivalent).
- Strong subject knowledge in teaching IGCSE Chinese as a Second Language or Mandarin as a Foreign Language.
- Willingness to lead and participate in educational trips and visits.
- Experience using digital tools for teaching and learning.
- Patient, caring, adaptable personality with a dedication to teaching.
- Excellent communication, listening and teamwork skills.
