About the role
The Resident Engineer (Mechanical) will lead the mechanical discipline on complex infrastructure and building projects, ensuring that design specifications, safety standards and quality expectations are met. You will act as the primary liaison between the client, authorities, contractors and the design team throughout construction, testing and handover phases.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct site inspections with authorities, operators, contractors and clients, and attend all relevant meetings.
- Witness testing and commissioning activities, sign off test results and manage non‑compliance reports.
- Coordinate with the Design Office Team Leader/Project Engineer on technical site duties and supervise resident site staff.
- Assist with progress payment certification, review shop drawings against actual site conditions and verify final as‑built documentation.
- Provide comments on method statements, material samples and liaise with HQ engineers.
- Prepare and submit weekly/monthly M&E progress reports and endorse approved as‑built drawings after site verification.
- Manage handover activities, resolve client complaints and support final account settlement.
- Oversee delivery, storage and protection of plant, materials and equipment.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia as a Graduate Engineer or Professional Engineer.
- Minimum 10 years of site supervision experience on mechanical services for industrial, manufacturing, institutional, pharmaceutical, data‑centre or other mission‑critical projects.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian codes, authority requirements, testing & commissioning, QA/QC processes and construction best practices.
- Proven coordination, communication and leadership abilities to manage contractors, consultants and stakeholders.
