About the role
The Resident Engineer (Electrical) will lead electrical works on construction sites, ensuring designs are executed safely, on schedule and to the highest quality standards. You will coordinate closely with design teams, consultants, contractors and project stakeholders to deliver complex infrastructure such as data centres and other mission‑critical facilities.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor all electrical installation works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, project requirements and Malaysian codes and standards.
- Provide technical support and engineering solutions to site issues, working with design teams, consultants and contractors.
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, method statements, shop drawings, material submissions and technical documents for accuracy and constructability.
- Oversee installation of HT/LV power distribution, substations, transformers, generators, lighting, earthing and lightning protection, UPS, ELV systems and other critical infrastructure.
- Coordinate and witness inspections, testing, commissioning and handover activities to meet regulatory and project requirements.
- Monitor workmanship and material quality, ensuring compliance with QA/QC standards and safety regulations.
- Verify that delivered materials and equipment meet approved specifications before installation.
- Maintain accurate site records, inspection reports, progress updates, non‑conformance reports and as‑built documentation.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) as a Graduate Engineer or Professional Engineer.
- Minimum 10 years of site supervision experience for electrical services, preferably in industrial, manufacturing, institutional, pharmaceutical, data‑centre or mission‑critical projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical building services and local authority requirements.
- Proven ability to coordinate contractors, consultants and stakeholders effectively.
