Purchasing Quality Engineer (Project)

About the role

The Purchasing Quality Engineer supports the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Preventive Quality Planning (PQP) for purchased parts within the product life‑cycle. Acting as the main interface for supplier quality issues after SOP, the role escalates plant quality concerns and contributes to cost‑target achievement for the product group.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Q‑Support to the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Preventive Quality Planning (PQP).
• Serve as the primary contact for all supplier quality issues post‑SOP, including ECR, 8D, concessions, and defect cost reimbursement.
• Escalate purchased‑part quality issues as the first level for the plant.
• Support cost‑target achievement across the product life‑cycle.
• Manage preventive quality planning, initial sample handling, and ISIR release.
• Handle complaints, blocked stock, and concessions.
• Represent Purchasing in Plant Point‑CIP activities and measure supplier quality performance via KPIs.
• Process quality cost reimbursements and trigger supplier escalations.
• Participate in quality projects within the rBU project team.
• Oversee RPP/Tooling activities, including technical discussions, measurement harmonisation, process audits, testing, qualification checks, and product certifications.

Required profile

• Degree in a scientific or technical field (mechanical, electrical/electronic, mechatronic, or optical engineering preferred).
• 4–6 years of experience in quality, with at least 2 years in purchasing or supplier quality.
• Strong analytical mindset, ability to lead cross‑functional teams, and trustworthy character.
• Understanding of quality tools, project management, and key component processes (e.g., plastic molding, SMT).
• Excellent negotiation skills.
• Malaysian citizenship is required.
