Manager, Buyer

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions, is seeking a Manager, Buyer for its Kulim site. The role will lead procurement activities, manage vendor relationships, and ensure cost‑effective purchasing to support semiconductor and display manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate activities of the procurement section, overseeing costs, methods, and staff.
• Evaluate vendor reliability and maintain strong working relationships.
• Prepare budgets and administer vendor selection processes and programs.
• Review and approve purchases up to a specified dollar amount.
• Negotiate major contracts involving large dollar amounts.
• Develop policies and procedures for procurement operations.
• Monitor cost, schedule, and performance of major sub‑contracts.
• Coordinate purchasing with engineering and manufacturing to maintain inventory levels.

Required profile

• In‑depth understanding of procurement concepts and related business functions.
• Ability to apply industry knowledge to achieve organizational objectives.
• Experience managing a homogeneous team and adapting plans to operational challenges.
• Strong problem‑solving skills to resolve technical, operational, and organizational issues.
