Global Customs Operations Executive

About the role

The Global Customs Operations Executive will be based at BASF’s Asia Pacific Service Centre in Kuala Lumpur. The role ensures smooth customs‑related activities, supporting business units with import and export documentation, compliance and service excellence across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver customs services to internal business units, responding promptly to queries and urgent issues.
• Manage hub customs operations, including preparation, issuance and verification of import/export documents and duty rate maintenance in SAP or a customised database.
• Review customs documentation for accuracy and compliance with local and global regulations.
• Monitor regulatory changes and implement necessary process adjustments.
• Support process‑improvement projects, data preparation for dashboards, and standardisation of reporting.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, work guides and work instructions for hub operations.
• Identify and resolve customs‑related discrepancies such as delayed shipments or tariff classification mismatches.
• Assist with customs compliance assessments, health checks, audits and related documentation.
• Contribute to digitalisation, automation and system upgrade initiatives for customs processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, preferably Supply Chain Management.
• 1–2 years of experience in customs, foreign trade or related supply‑chain functions.
• Familiarity with customs regulations, trade laws and tariff schedules.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with internal partners and external authorities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SAP for customs documentation and duty rate management.
